Bergen op Zoom is a city typical of the province of Brabant. Narrow streets, old squares and unusual monuments tell the tale of a rich and turbulent life. Bergen op Zoom was awarded the Best Inner City title in 2007!

The green surroundings of Bergen op Zoom offer a wide choice of sporting activities. Authentic Brabant villages nestle in the wooded areas around the city and are certainly worth a visit. The city itself is located near the Belgian border, making trips to Antwerp, Roosendaal or Breda easy. The recreation centre, Binnenschelde, is nearby and is perfect for swimming, wind surfing and canoeing. Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Stadspark is less than 500 metres away from the city centre of Bergen op Zoom. The city has a number of interesting monuments including the city hall and the 15th century prison, the Gevangenpoort.
